Honoring Your Support in Nagorno Karabakh | October 2024
One year ago, 120,000 Armenians were forced to flee their homes in Nagorno Karabakh following a devastating blockade and military attack. This tragedy changed countless lives forever.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø was able to help vulnerable displaced families. More than 1,200 people received essential aid and direct cash assistance for food, transportation, housing and other critical needs. We are thankful to our dedicated colleagues who worked tirelessly to support their entire community throughout the crisis.
While ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø no longer works in Nagorno Karabakh, your contributions gave families the security they needed in their most difficult moments, and your compassion has made a lasting impact for them.
We are deeply grateful for your support.

Nagorno Karabakh is a remote and beautiful place in the South Caucasus, a land of forest and mountains. The local people were threatened by the presence of enormous quantities of landmines, cluster bombs and unexploded ordnance from the wars of the early 1990s and from an intense conflict in 2020.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø began work in Karabakh in February 1995 training local people to clear their own lands of explosive dangers. We were one of a very small number of international organisations operating in the unrecognised territory, but the vast majority of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø staff were Karabakhi women and men. They worked diligently in dangerous minefields and in the streets and gardens of their neighbours to keep them safe.
In October 2023, following further military action, the population of Karabakh left their homes for Armenia. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø established a base in Goris, Armenia to support our colleagues and their families during an extremely challenging time, providing temporary accommodation, food, transportation and other assistance. We continue to do everything we can to support our colleagues and their families, finding employment opportunities on other ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø programmes around the world for some those able to take them up.
